On behalf of Somerset Council’s Property department, the Parish Council would like to inform you that a Public Notice will be published within the Somerset Gazette Lite for two consecutive weeks, commencing Friday 17th April 2026 which relates to the proposed transfer of a parcel of land known as “Recreation Ground, Old Road, Odcombe, Yeovil”, to Odcombe Parish Council. 

This public notice is a requirement of Section 123 (1), (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 as it relates to the disposal of an open space and was approved by Somerset Councils Asset Management Group.

The notice states the following –

Notice is hereby given that Somerset Council intends to dispose of the parcel of land and interest within its title holding, known Recreation Ground, Old Road, Odcombe, Yeovil, to Odcombe Parish Council. The consideration for the transfers will be maintenance for the Public Benefit.

The site plan will shortly be able to be viewed on the Somerset Council website 

Representations in respect of the intended disposal must be made in writing and addressed to Property Governance, Property, Somerset Council, County Hall, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 4DY, or alternatively emailed to propertygovernance@somerset.gov.uk by no later than 5pm on 5th May 2026.

Further information relating to the transfer of ownership to the Parish Council will be provided at the Annual Parish Meeting, scheduled for Monday 11th May, at Odcombe Village Hall, commencing at 6:00pm. All residents are welcome to attend.
