The undulating hills and patchwork of ancient fields, unspoilt meadows and orchards offer an idyllic backdrop to the charming settlements of Higher and Lower Odcombe. Wonderful vistas of the villages and surrounding countryside abound at every turn, often with commanding views over the local landscape.
Our Parish
The distinctive, honey-coloured hamstone which predominates the area features in many of the buildings and lends the villages their distinctive charm and character. Used by masons for over a 1000 years and still quarried today in the popular Ham Hill Country park which lies just to the east of the villages, this stone has been described as ‘the loveliest building material in England’ and is on spectacular display in the grand Elizabethan mansions at Brympton D’Evercy and the National Trust’s Montacute House, both of which are within walking distance of the villages.

The area abounds in spectacular walking, cycling, bridleways, sight-seeing, local gastronomy and quality of life – traditional and modern Somerset at its best!
