Set within a stunning rural landscape, the historic settlements of Higher and Lower Odcombe come together in a perfectly formed Somerset village. The beautiful golden hamstone of the local buildings in Odcombe offer a warm welcome, a vibrant community, excellent amenities and easy access to the charms of South Somerset and beyond.  In 2020, Odcombe was awarded Somerset's Village of the Year.

Quintessential Somerset!

The undulating hills and patchwork of ancient fields, unspoilt meadows and orchards offer an idyllic backdrop to the charming settlements of Higher and Lower Odcombe. Wonderful vistas of the villages and surrounding countryside abound at every turn, often with commanding views over the local landscape.

The distinctive, honey-coloured hamstone which predominates the area features in many of the buildings and lends the villages their distinctive charm and character. Used by masons for over a 1000 years and still quarried today in the popular Ham Hill Country park which lies just to the east of the villages, this stone has been described as ‘the loveliest building material in England’ and is on spectacular display in the grand Elizabethan mansions at Brympton D’Evercy and the National Trust’s Montacute House, both of which are within walking distance of the villages.

The area abounds in spectacular walking, cycling, bridleways, sight-seeing, local gastronomy and quality of life - traditional and modern Somerset at its best!
